parametric tests	statistical tests designed to test hypotheses about population parameters



nonparametric tests	tests that do not test hypotheses about population parameters and do not assume any particular distribution, or make fewer assumptions about distributions



distribution-free tests	another name for nonparametric tests



chi-square test	nonparametric test for nominal scale data



chi-square goodness-of-fit test	chi-square test on different levels of a single categorical variable



chi-square test of independence	chi-square test on different levels of two categorical variables
