What's New



  • ADDED COVERAGE: New coverage has of President Bush's "No Child Left Behind" legislation, home economics and the creation of consumerist culture, environmental education, propaganda and free speech in schools, textbook censorship. In addition, several expanded sections on African American Education have been added.
  • STRONGER CHRONOLOGICAL EMPHASIS: In order to better serve those teaching this course, the text has been reorganized to have a stronger chronological approach. Topically oriented chapters from the Fifth Edition have been folded into relevant chronological/historical chapters throughout the text, resulting in a more explicit and evident chronological emphasis.
  • STREAMLINED: In response to user comments, text narrative and coverage have been streamlined to eliminate redundancy and make text length more manageable.
