Abacus  An ancient calculating device consisting of beads strung on wires or rods that are set in a frame.
Ada  A high-level programming language developed in the late 1970s and named after Augusta Ada Byron, Countess of Lovelace and daughter of Lord Byron.
Artificial intelligence (AI)  Use of the computer to simulate the thinking of human beings.
Boolean logic  Devised by George Boole, a system of algebra that used the operations of informal logic.
Debug  Find the errors in the computer's hardware or software.
Internet  A system of worldwide networks that enable the user to send electronic mail, conduct research, chat, and participate in newsgroups.
Microprocessor  A chip that contains the central processing unit of the computer.
Transistor  An electronic gate that bridges the gap between two wires and lets the current flow.
