Cursor  The blinking light that shows the user where he or she is working on the computer screen.
Delete  To remove information from a file or disk.
Drag and drop  A technique that uses the mouse to drag objects on the computer screen.
Font  A group of letters, numbers, punctuation marks, and special characters with the same typeface, style, and weight.
Footer  In word processing, repeated text such as a title that appears at the bottom of the page.
Header  In word processing, repeated text such as page numbers that appear at the top of the page.
Integrated software packages  Software packages like Microsoft Works that contain more than one application in one single package (e.g., word processor, database, spreadsheet).
Macro  A group of routines or commands combined into one or two keystrokes.
Public domain software  Software that is not copyrighted and can be freely copied and distributed without payment or permission.
Shareware  Copyrighted software that is distributed free but must be paid for if the customer is satisfied.
Software suite  A collection of programs that are usually sold individually (e.g., Microsoft Office 2001).
Wizard  A small program that lets the user input information to create a customized template.
Word processor  A software program designed to make the computer a useful electronic writing tool that can edit, store, and print documents.
Word wrap  In word processing, when words go beyond a margin they are automatically wrapped to the beginning of the next line.
