Sovereignty involves a nation’s recognized right to decide its own course in civil and foreign affairs, especially as it relates to decisions of self-defense. Most cultures have a concept of a just and unjust war—moral reasons for making war on an enemy and immoral ones. Furthermore, as was discussed in the text, there are also just and unjust ways in which to conduct a war. Please answer the following and compare your results to fellow students who also took the survey.
Section I: Just War?
Consider the following scenarios. Decide whether or not it would it be just for the United States to go to war in each circumstance.
Section II: Just Conduct in War?
In this section, you will be asked whether or not it would be just for the United States to respond with a nuclear attack against targets in the nation implicated in each scenario.
