One effect of the high mortality rate from the plague was a preoccupation with death. The Dance of Death or danse macabre as an art form spread throughout Europe. The basic idea of this kind of art is to recall the shortness of life and to remind people that all die, without exception. Review this chronological list of the Dance of Death.
