6.2 Life-Threatening Illness and Treatment Information

Dr. C. Everett Koop, the former Surgeon General of The United States, has lent his name and expertise to an online health information site. One of the features of this site is an encyclopedia that covers most medical conditions, which you can access from the home page. Pick a life-threatening medical condition and access the information written about it in the encyclopedia. You'll notice that there are links to additional information in the encyclopedia to further educate you about "your" disease. Do a complete review of the disease you have chosen and answer the following questions:

1
Which life-threatening disease did you choose? Write a short paragraph discussing the reason for your selection.
2
What kind of information did you find?
3
Was death mentioned as a possible outcome? If so, what was said? If not, why do you think that it was omitted?
4
What did you learn from this activity?
