1. The history of the recording industry is incredibly diverse, including more groups and types of music than could be covered in this chapter. If you were to add to this history, what group or type of music would you include? Trace the history of either one on the Web and prepare a brief report defending your choice. Use your own search techniques, or go directly to a site such as www.heathenworld.com/heathen.html* for the origins of band names, or to the All Music guide at www.allmusic.com,* to search for the roots of genres (East Coast rap, psychobilly), or any group.

On the next screen, under the topic of Music, read 12-01-03, "Continuing Flux in the Recorded Music Industry." Using information from both Chapter 6 and this article, write a brief essay on what history would lead us to predict for the future of the music business.
