Stories have been the source of teaching morals for centuries. In our contemporary society, we are still teaching our children through the use of stories. Explain a moral lesson that you learned through a story you were told as a child, or if you are a parent, a moral lesson you have taught your child through the use of a story.

The 1960s provided a great array of stories. From segregation, to the pacifist attitude toward Viet Nam, to the change in the social position of women change was occurring almost daily in the 1960s. Provide a discussion about a film that was produced to illustrate such changes. Explain the weaknesses and strengths of the film for the purpose of understanding the decade of the 1960s.

Science fiction is an excellent genre of films/stories often used to illustrate the future of our society. Summarize a film or writing that describes, via entertainment, what we may expect in the future. You may also consider a piece of work from several decades ago and compare and contrast the authenticity of its predictions for the future.

The group of films and stories that fall in the mystery and crime genre are most popular in today's society. These films often epitomize the belief that good will overcome evil. Choose a film, novel, or TV (i.e. C.S.I., Law and Order, L.A.Confidential, The Firm) show to illustrate why we, as society, continue to keep watching, reading, or listening to these stories.

Regarding violence in contemporary films/T.V., do you feel Plato was correct in his belief that censorship was healthy for a society, or Aristotle, who thought it was beneficial for people to be exposed to violence? Explain why you agree with Plato or Aristotle...or perhaps both!

How does ego integrity bear influence on a situation that seems unfair? i.e. for the woman who has breast cancer, the child with leukemia, etc. Explain how we generally handle this type of situation.
