Using Kant's test, categorical imperative, determine what the correct behavior would be to the following situation.

You have finally been able to arrange for a weekend of skiing. The snow is perfect, a foot of powder over a well formed base. Several of your closest friends are going along. This is the weekend you've been waiting for.

The night before you are to leave, your father calls you. Your grandparents are coming to visit. They live approximately 1500 miles away and you seldom see them. They are approaching advanced age. Your father insists that you come home for the weekend and visit with your grandparents. What should you do?

Although there are many imperatives, there is only one categorical imperative. What did he mean when it was stated "always act so that you can will that your maxim can become a universal law". Use specific examples to provide support for your opinion.
