Renaissance Humanism focused on human, rather than divine, concerns. This intellectual and artistic movement, and other economic and political factors, as well, created a more secular society. The birth of the printing press helped fuel the rise of Protestantism, and the popularity of secular education encouraged music education and the dissemination of music literature. Italy, Germany, England and Spain became musical centers of the Renaissance because of these factors. The resources in this section are provided to introduce you to the culture of Renaissance music, and key composers of the time.
