Chapter 10 Overview
(See related pages)

From the beginning, social psychology has been concerned with the way people act in groups. Even in an individualist society, we are members of many groups, large and small. This chapter examines some of the defining characteristics of groups, and why they are more than just an aggregate of separate individuals. Specific problems that may result from group action and decision-making are explored.
