Naming conventions updated.
The “old VB style” Hungarian notation has been changed to naming conventions that conform to the .NET recommended standards and industry trends.

Switch from VB functions to .NET methods.
Programs use methods of the .NET classes for parsing input and formatting output.

Reorganized and expanded.
The Case Structure now appears in Chapter 4, the selection chapter. In Chapter 6, the OOP concept of inheritance is expanded and enhanced. Chapter 13 now contains advanced field-level validation using the Validating event and error providers.

Database coverage.
The selection programs are simplified, and the database applications for Windows Forms and Web Forms are better separated to make the differences more obvious.

New appendix on security.
A new appendix addresses securing an application, as well as dealing with security restrictions while testing and moving applications.
