Build Your Management Skills

The Student CD also offers a selection of our Build Your Management Skills library containing over 40 personal self-assessments and knowledge-gauging quizzes that offer quality feedback in real-time. For each exercise in the "Test Your Knowledge" section of Build Your Management Skills, students are asked a series of questions that measure their understanding of a topic from their textbook and/or the concept review included in the exercise on CD. They may choose from two formats:

Practice Mode: Students answer a question and then receive personalized feedback on their choice, including a detailed explanation for why their response is correct or incorrect.
Test Mode: After answering all the questions, students read an in-depth feedback report that includes their overall score and a review of their choices compared to the correct ones.

The "Self-Assessments" section of Build Your Management Skills, students answer a questionnaire and then receive a detailed, personalized feedback report. What makes the feedback report different than the scoring presented in most self-assessments, including those printed in textbooks, are two key additions:

  • Students receive a personal analysis of their actual responses. Comments within a feedback report may vary significantly from one student to another. In many cases, the quality and detail of personal analysis is closer to that typically found in professional-level assessments given to business employees. In some self-assessments, students may even receive individual comments and perspective on each and every questionnaire response
  • Many feedback reports include additional material intended to expand and complement textbook content on the same subject. For example, in the feedback report for "Do You Have What It Takes to Be a Leader?" students read about how current business leaders in companies such as Microsoft, Gillette and Blockbuster demonstrate leadership qualities.

The CD includes topics on:

- Supply and Demand
- SWOT Analysis
- Ethics
- Building Communication Skills
- Characteristics of Successful Entrepreneurs
- Assessing Ethical Decision-Making Skills
- Appreciating and Valuing Diversity
- Do You Have What It Takes To Be a Leader?
