Exercise 15.7 (24.0K)

Write a story based on the following information, which is from The Gleaner in Henderson, Ky.
Snow should total between 1 and 3 inches in Henderson today [Saturday], according to Francis Burns, a National Weather Service forecaster in Evansville, Ind. There is a 60 percent chance of snow on Sunday, with the potential of leaving up to 3 more inches.
Henderson is on the northern fringe of a winter storm that is moving south.
Blowing and drifting snow was reported. There were also winter storm warnings and slow-moving traffic in Henderson. The National Weather Service in Evansville said that the weather could get worse.
Portions of eastern Kentucky could possibly receive 6 inches of snow. But, according to Burns, the Henderson area would not receive that much.
Burns was quoted: "This one (the storm) on Sunday has the potential to move farther north. We'll be more specific as time goes on."
The high in Henderson was expected to reach about 20 degrees, according to Burns. Winds were forecast to be out of the north at between 10 and 15 mph. The overnight low was forecast to be about 10 degrees.
Snow is in the extended forecast, according to Burns. It is too early to tell for sure, but Burns said that a chance of a light snow had been predicted for Tuesday and Wednesday.
Approximately 2 inches of snow fell on Henderson Thursday night. That added to the 1 inch that was already on the ground.
The threat of more bad weather led to a minor run on area grocery stores.
Cars jammed the parking lot and fire lanes at the Sureway store in Eastgate late Friday afternoon. Shoppers had to wait in line just for grocery carts. Each check-out station was stacked 12 people deep.
Marvin Hancock, store manager, said: "It's been like this all day."
Hancock said that the large crowds were a "combination of Friday, the first of the month and the snow. With all that, you've got a madhouse."
He continued: "People have really taken the situation well, as far as waiting to get checked out. When they see you have all your lanes open and all your people up front, they know you're trying."
Store manager Bud Satterfield also reported a bustling business at the Dix Gold Star Foods store at the U.S. 42-North store.
Satterfield said that the store had sold out of bread but that milk remained.
Area roads remained covered with snow and ice. Road crews were out trying to stay ahead of the predicted storms.
