Good writing encompasses more than just choosing the right word or phrase. Proper usage, correct spelling and consistent style are also essential. Correct usage, spelling, style and writing errors in the following sentences, referring to the AP style rules in Appendix B of the text when appropriate.

  1. Things will always turn out okay if people accept one another.
  2. Aid to Women, an abortion alternative center since January, 1986, focuses their concern on women who are or think they might be pregnant.
  3. Dunn said to think in terms of the inconvenience the loss of certain items would cause.
  4. "They assume its a safe environment and don't stop to think," he said.
  5. Apathy is the number one reason for the backpack thefts on campus, according to the security officer.
