Teachers who manage their classrooms effectively have a plan. You should begin developing a classroom management plan at once. Your plan should include four parts.
First, you must anticipate and decide how to prevent management problems from occurring.
Second, you should decide how to monitor students’ behavior in order to maintain a good learning environment.
Third, you should plan how to react when students misbehave in your classroom.
Finally, you need to determine how to reestablish the learning environment when misbehavior disrupts your classroom community.
This chapter is organized to help you develop specific management strategies in each of these four areas.
