EXERCISE 4.1: WEB QUEST

Before extending credit to customers, it is often wise to investigate their credit history. Credit reports for businesses are now available online from Dun & Bradstreet.

Step 1: From the Customer Navigator, click the Credit Check icon. Read about QuickBooks Credit Check Service.

Step 2: Click the New Customer tab. Click Look Up Commercial Customer Address.

Step 3: Enter the name of a real commercial company in the Company Name field, and then select the state in which the company is located.

Step 4: Click the Start button to verify the company address against the online Dun & Bradstreet database. Print your results.

Verifying a commercial customer's address is a free service. To obtain credit reports requires a subscription to the Dun & Bradstreet credit services. For a sample credit report, from the Business Services Navigator, click Get Credit Report, then click See a sample credit report.
