The Filing Tutorial software is an instructional program designed to teach the basic rules of filing, indexing, and alphabetizing. Indexing is a technique used to format information in a predefined manner, while alphabetizing is a method of sorting the information for easy retrieval. The information provided in this program complies with the filing rules of the Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA).

The tutorial consists of thirteen self-guided lessons that explain and test your understanding of the filing rules. Each of the thirteen self guided lessons can be accessed for the pull down menu in the left hand navigation section of this web site. Your performance is scored for formatting and accuracy. At the end of each exercise you can print or email your results to your professor.
