To know whether your book is a first-printing or a second-printing copy, look at the “print codeline” on the book’s title page. The print codeline’s leftmost digit indicates which printing copy you’ve got.
For example, this print codeline indicates a first-printing copy:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 DOC/DOC 0 9 8
And this print codeline indicates a second-printing copy:
2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 DOC/DOC 0 9 Errata
