Sample Projects

One of the special features of this text is the diversity of its projects.

Project subject matter spans six broad academic areas:

Computer Science and Numerical Methods
Business and Accounting
Social Sciences and Statistics
Math and Physics
Engineering and Architecture
Biology and Ecology

On the Information Center's Project Summary page, we provide a table that specifies each project's subject matter and its level of difficulty. The projects themselves are on the password-protected Student Center. To give you an idea of what the projects are like, we provide several sample projects below. When you view a project, you'll see one, two, or three asterisks next to the project's heading. The number of asterisks corresponds to the project's level of difficulty, with one asterisk for the easiest projects and three asterisks for the most difficult projects. Be aware that all three levels of projects involve progressively more code as you proceed through the book.
