Stephen Haag is the Associate Dean of Graduate Programs and Director of the MBA program in the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver. Prior to being Associate Dean, Stephen served as Chair of the Department of Information Technology and Electronic Commerce and Director of the Master of Science in Information Technology program. Stephen holds a B.B.A. and M.B.A. from West Texas State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Arlington. Stephen is the author/coauthor of numerous books including Computing Concepts in Action (a K-12 textbook), Interactions: Teaching English as a Second Language (with his mother and father), Information Technology: Tomorrow’s Advantage Today (with Peter Keen), Excelling in Finance, Business Driven Technology, and more than 40 books within the I-Series. He has also written numerous articles appearing in such journals as Communications of the ACM, Socio-Economic Planning Sciences, the International Journal of Systems Science, Managerial and Decision Economics, Applied Economics, and the Australian Journal of Management. Stephen lives with his wife, Pam, and their three sons—Darian, Trevor, and Zippy—in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.

Maeve Cummings is a professor of Information Systems at Pittsburg State University. She holds a B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science and an M.B.A from Pittsburg State and a Ph.D. in Information Systems from the University of Texas at Arlington. She has published in various journals including the Journal of Global Information Management and the Journal of Computer Information Systems. She serves on various editorial boards and is a coauthor of Case Studies in Information Technology and the concepts books of the I-Series, entitled Computing Concepts. Maeve has been teaching for 20 years and lives in Pittsburg, Kansas, with her husband, Slim.

Amy Phillips teaches in the Department of Information Technology and Electronic Commerce in the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver. Amy’s main teaching and research areas involve Internet and mobile technologies. With her MCT certification, Amy works with developing training material for Microsoft’s Web Services platform, .NET. With more than 22 years teaching experience, Amy has coauthored several textbooks, including Business Driven Technology, Internet Explorer 6.0, and PowerPoint 2003.


About The Contributors

Keith Neufeld is the lead network engineer in University Computing and Telecommunications Services at Wichita State University. Keith has been working in information technology for 15 years, including 13 years as a Unix system administrator and eight years with increasing network design and support responsibilities. Before moving into higher education, he worked for ten years in nonprofit healthcare and for three years at Cessna aircraft. Keith’s interests include resilent network design, open-source software development, and vintage video arcade game collecting and restoration. Careers in Business Contributors are the people who offered great insight into Module K on Careers in Business. No single person could have compiled information on the many business careers that appear in that module. The contributor team includes: Dan Connolly (Hospitality and Tourism Management), David Cox (Finance), Kathleen Davisson (Accounting), Jeff Engelstad (Real Estate and Construction Management), and Syl Houston (Management).
