A PDA or personal digital assistant is a small handheld device that exists to help you manage your life. These small devices can help you keep track of your schedule, appointments, phone numbers.

On the fun side, PDAs can store your games, music, and video so that when you want to play, listen, or view, you have the means at your fingertips.

PDAs come in many types from those with very small black and white screens and just a small amount of memory to very sophisticated models with lots of memory, cellphone capability, GPS, and so on.

The wireless capability of PDAs is making them ever more popular. Many PDAs have WiFi or Bluetooth, allowing you to connect wirelessly to a network to reach the Internet or to connect to a cell phone that also has the same wireless capability.

There are two major types of PDAs that run on different operating systems (similar to the distinction between PCs and Macs). These are: (a) the Palm and Handspring type that run on Palm OS and (b) the PocketPC type that run on Pocket PC OS.
