Instructor's Presentation CD-ROM
The Instructor's CD-ROM to Accompany Consumer Behavior includes all of the instructor's resources available for Consumer Behavior in electronic form and an easy interface that makes it even easier to access the specific items the instructor wants to use.

Instructor resources for the 10th edition have been substantially improved to aid in the teaching and learning experience. They offer EXTRA resources in the form of examples and advertisements that are NOT in the text itself, thus providing for a "value-added" experience in the classroom and greater efficiency in creating course materials.

The 10th edition puts the following resources at your fingertips:

  • Instructor's Manual (New Feature for the 10e - CB Press Highlights!)
    The Instructor's Manual contains suggestions for teaching the course, learning objectives for each chapter, additional material for presentation, lecture tips and aids, answers to the end-of-chapter questions, suggested case teaching approaches, and discussion guides for each case.

CB Press Highlights (Easy Access to Examples NOT in Text): To help instructors bring FRESH and NEW examples not in the text into class discussions, the IM includes CB Press Highlights. Each chapter comes with 2-3 such examples (57 total) which have been chosen to be (a) timely and yet not too time sensitive, and (b) relevant and applicable to one or more concepts in the chapter.

These are effective and useful learning tools for the students. You can assign students the articles so they can prepare them prior to class. OR, you can simply print them out, review them prior to class, and work them into discussion as new examples.

Each article is summarized to provide key facts and highlights and accompanied by an in-class discussion guide. An example from Chapter 2 is:

Article 3

"Olympus Woos The China Market," Fortune, October 4, 2004, p. S1/2.

Highlights: The fact that Chinese will buy 3M cameras - all the rest of Asia - 5.2M. Examines Olympus' strategy for capturing a dominant share of market in China. Primary target seen as 19-39 year olds in growth hot spots. Using its "My Digital Story" campaign from S. Korea which features "hip, young people experiencing the fun and freedom of taking photos with a camera that has a seemingly endless capacity to create and store new images."

Use in Discussion: Can be used to highlight the growing Chinese market. Can also be used to discuss evolving values, such as youth and independence, which go against traditional cultural values. This also can be linked to the global teen and youth market. Finally, the use of standardization (use of the S. Korean advertising approach in China) across different countries can be discussed.

  • PowerPoint Program (All New for the 10th Edition!)
    The tenth edition comes with a completely new and more comprehensive set of PowerPoint slides for each chapter. They include the key material from each chapter as well as additional illustrations and examples to enhance the overall classroom experience. These PowerPoints can be used "off the shelf," in combination with the instructor's own materials, and/or can be combined with the digital four-color ad set to create powerful presentations which include both text and non-text materials.

New PowerPoint Features for the 10th Edition

Text Rich and Text Lite Versions: Each PPT comes in two versions – namely TEXT RICH (more slides and more detail) and TEXT LITE (fewer slides and less detail). This provides for maximal flexibility to suit different teaching styles and needs.

Consumer Behavior in the News: Each chapter PPT opens with an example that is not in the text that takes a general question-answer format. The example relates to one or more key concepts in the chapter and can be used to kick off class discussion.

The following is a "Consumer Behavior In The News" example from Chapter 1.

Consumer Behavior In The News (Chapter 1) – Example NOT in text from a recent article in the press.

Starts with a QUESTION…which is designed to generate discussion.
<a onClick="window.open('/olcweb/cgi/pluginpop.cgi?it=jpg::::/sites/dl/free/0073101370/346715/supp_image2.jpg','popWin', 'width=NaN,height=NaN,resizable,scrollbars');" href="#"><img valign="absmiddle" height="16" width="16" border="0" src="/olcweb/styles/shared/linkicons/image.gif"> (62.0K)</a>

Then provides ANSWERS…based on the article.

My students have been enthusiastic about these class openers.

Applications in Consumer Behavior: Each chapter PPT also contains one or two advertisements or in-store displays which are not in the text. Here again, these illustrations offer a customized in-class experience that goes beyond the text.

The following is an "Applications in Consumer Behavior" example from Chapter 3.

<a onClick="window.open('/olcweb/cgi/pluginpop.cgi?it=jpg::::/sites/dl/free/0073101370/346715/supp_image3.jpg','popWin', 'width=NaN,height=NaN,resizable,scrollbars');" href="#"><img valign="absmiddle" height="16" width="16" border="0" src="/olcweb/styles/shared/linkicons/image.gif"> (37.0K)</a>
Applications in Consumer Behavior provide you with additional visual examples of ads and in-store tactics NOT in the text.

  • Test Bank and Computerized Test Bank (All New for the 10th Edition!)
    The test bank for the tenth edition is completely new and improved. Laurie Babin (University of Southern Mississippi) has created over 2000 questions ranging from multiple-choice, to true-false, to short-answer. These questions are coded according to degree of difficulty and are designed with the flexibility to suit your students' needs and your teaching style. These questions cover all the chapters, including material in the opening vignettes and in the Consumer Insights. Questions are marked with a page number so that instructors can make quick reference back to the book.

  • Digital Four-Color Ad Set: Your Instructor's CD contains 95 additional ads and in-store visuals in digital form that you can import into your PPT slides. These ads are NOT in the text and thus allow for additional discussion beyond the book. The Instructor's Manual relates these items to the relevant concepts in the text.

  • DDB Life Style StudyTM Data Analyses (New Data for 10/e): The DDB data are new for the 10th edition and include exciting new variables not included in earlier editions relating to culture, decision making, and online shopping. The Instructor's Manual provides answers to the DDB questions posed in the "end-of-chapter" section of each relevant chapter.

Video Cases (Expanded Coverage for 10/e)
A set of video cases is available to adopters. These videos describe firm strategies or activities that relate to material in the text. We have nearly doubled the number of videos (15 videos) in the 10 th edition, to provide more targeted coverage of a broader set of chapters and concepts than in previous editions. A guide for teaching from the videos is contained in the Instructor's Manual.
