As the world becomes more interdependent, international economic relations increasingly affect our economic circumstances. The economic health of virtually all countries is increasingly dependent on trade. Even an economy as large and diverse as that of the United States depends on exports to generate a significant percentage of its employment and wealth. Without imports, many products we desire would be unavailable or more expensive; without exports, many jobs would be eliminated.
