This chapter traces the development of laws prohibiting public order offenses related to drugs, alcohol, and sex. There is a brief review of the history, extent, and patterns of drug abuse in the United States, followed by a discussion of the criminal activities associated with drugs, the international drug economy, and efforts to control drugs. There is a parallel examination of alcohol. The sections on substance abuse are followed by a section on the sexual morality offenses of deviant sexual intercourse, prostitution, and pornography.
