eLearning Session Tutorial

The Electronic Learning Sessions (eLS) were developed to help you apply the core principles of economics developed in the textbook. The eLS approach is interactive, giving you the opportunity to practice and perfect your economic naturalist skills. To maximize your learning potential, we suggest that you first work sequentially through each of the sections in the eLS; later, you might choose to come back directly to a particular section for further review of a specific topic. Each chapter's eLS includes the following sections:

Key Concepts

A brief summary of the core economic principles developed in the chapter. Also includes a list of important chapter-specific learning objectives.

Economic Naturalist Exercises

An economic observation, followed by a brief question, asking you to examine a real-world observation using the economic concepts presented in the chapter.

Interactive Graphing Exercises

An extended exercise requiring you to apply concepts developed in the text using interactive graphs or tables. The eLS first guides you through a "Hands-on Exploration" of an economic concept developed in the text and then leads you through a related set of exercises to explore "On Your Own." Finally, you are provided with a series of "Questions to Think About." All of the exercises require you to interact with the dynamic graphs and tables that are included in the session. This hands-on interaction is a powerful learning tool that will help you fully develop your economic naturalist skills!

PowerPoint Lectures

A set of PowerPoint slides to reinforce your learning by summarizing the key concepts in the chapter.

Flashcards

A set of "cards," each with a definition, containing the key economic terms in the chapter.

Math Tutor

Helpful math tutorials for those concepts that cause students particular problems. These tutorials take students through complex ideas step by step. (They are not found in all chapters.)

Multiple Choice Quizzes

A set of 10 questions per chapter that provide answers to students and the capability to email the results to an instructor.
