1			So many composers seem to have emigrated to the United States at some point in their careers. Why does this seem to occur so frequently? What does America have or not have that causes it to be such a popular Artist destination? Is this still occurring today?




2			You are Joe or Jane Ethnomusicologist and you are charged with taking a Nationalist picture of America in 2006. In an hour long piece, what specific styles or types of music will need to be alluded too? Think of every ethnic group, every economic level, every religious group, every age group, sexual orientation etc., found in America. First make your “list of what America is” and then match a type or style of music you would use for each. Have fun with this. By now you have the tools to easily attempt this mammoth task. Don’t worry, no one can possibly include everything that makes up America. If a time capsule is dug up 100 years from now containing your piece, I want listeners to see a picture of America in your work.
