At the conclusion of Chapter 6, students should be able to:

List and discuss physical changes during puberty for both girls and boys.

Appraise influences on adolescent psychosexual development, including parents, peers, and the media.

Discuss adolescent sexual learning, including masturbation, normative behavior sequence, virginity, and first intercourse.

List and analyze the four types of sexuality education programs that are currently offered in schools and communities.

Analyze nonmarital sexuality, including its increasing acceptance and the factors leading to nonmarital sexual involvement.

Describe the process of establishing a gay, lesbian, and bisexual identity.
