Janet Shibley Hyde

Dr. Hyde is one of the world's leading experts on gender and sexuality. She currently is a Professor of Psychology and Women's Studies at the University of Wisconsin—Madison and earned her PhD in Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Hyde has won a number of teaching awards at the University of Wisconsin and her publications include more than 100 scientific articles and chapters. In addition, she is the author of two leading textbooks, Half the Human Experience: The Psychology of Women, and Understanding Human Sexuality. Her research has won awards, including the Kinsey Award from the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality for her contributions to sex research, and the Heritage Award from the Society for the Psychology of Women (Division 35 of the American Psychological Association) for her research on women and gender. Over the past three decades, Dr. Hyde has held a variety of elected and appointed positions in her field, including Editor of the Psychology of Women Quarterly and as Associate Editor of The Journal of Sex Research. She is a past-president of the Society for the Psychology of Women and the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality.

Gilbert Gottlieb

Dr. Gottlieb is recognized as one of the world's leading experts on the early biological and environmental foundations of development. He has been a Research Professor of Psychology at the Center for Developmental Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill since 1995. He received his Ph.D. from Duke University, where he participated in both the clinical and experimental psychology programs and was the first graduate from the joint Psychology-Zoology graduate training program in animal behavior. Dr. Gottlieb worked as a clinical psychologist from 1959-61 before turning his full-time attention to basic research on early social development in several species of birds. He summarized his career-long research and theoretical ideas in Synthesizing Nature-Nurture (1997), which won the 1998 Eleanor Maccoby Award of the Developmental Psychology Division of the American Psychological Association. Over the last four decades, Dr. Gottlieb has received a number of research grants from the National Institutes of Mental Health, National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, and the National Science Foundation. He is past president of the International Society for Developmental Psychobiology and received the Distinguished Scientific Contributions to Child Development Award from the Society for Research in Child Development.

Denise Park

Denise Park is a leading expert on cognition and aging. She is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she directs the Roybal Center for Healthy Minds. Dr. Park obtained her Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Albany. Dr. Park's research focuses on three themes: 1) the cognitive neuroscience of aging with an emphasis on discovering links between neural functioning and memory, 2) aging, culture, and cognition that focuses on comparisons between older adults in the United States and China, and 3) the influence of aging on everyday life, especially in processing medical information and functioning in social contexts. Dr. Park is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and recently received the Distinguished Contribution Award to the Psychology of Aging from the American Psychological Association.

Yvette Harris

Dr. Harris a leading expert on diversity. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Florida and is currently a faculty member in the Department of Psychology at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Harris, a cognitive-developmental psychologist, has authored and co-authored articles on African-American children and academic achievement, and maternal-child learning interaction in African-American families. She has been the recipient of awards from the National Science Foundation and the Murray Research Center to support her research on maternal-child interaction.

Ross Thompson

Ross Thompson is one of the world's leading experts on children's socioemotional development. He obtained his Ph.D. at the University of Michigan and currently is Professor of Psychology at the University of California—Davis. His research and writing focus on early socioemotional and personality development in the context of close relationships. Dr. Thompson has served twice as Associate Editor of Child Development and has been on a number of other journal editorial boards. Among his publications are a chapter (The development of the person) in the Handbook of Child Psychology (2006), books that include Preventing maltreatment through social support and Toward a child-centered neighborhood-based child protection system. Dr. Thompson also has received the prestigious Boyd McCandless award from the American Psychological Association and the Outstanding Research and Creativity Award from the University of Nebraska, where he also was a member of the Academy of Distinguished Teachers.

Rachel Keen

Formerly Rachel Keen Clifton, Rachel Keen is one of the world's leading experts on perceptual-motor development in infants and young children. Dr. Keen is currently a professor of psychology at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She is a former president of the International Society on Infant Studies and recently received the Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award from the Society for Research in Child Development in 2005. Dr. Keen has received research grants from the National Institutes of Health, The National Science Foundation, and the March of Dimes. She held a Research Scientist Award from the National Institute of Mental Health for 20 years. Dr. Keen has served on the editorial boards of Developmental Psychology, Child Development, Infant Behavior and Development, and Journal of Experimental Child Psychology. She is a former editor of the Monographs of the Society for Research in Child Development.

Scott Hofer

Dr. Hofer is a leading expert on cognition and aging. He is currently a professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies at The Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Hofer has active collaborations with national and international researchers on longitudinal studies on aging and has written on conceptual and methodological issues for research on aging. His current research focuses on describing changes in cognition and health and identifying predictors of individual change in longitudinal studies on aging.

Elena Grigorenko

John Bonvillian

She obtained her Ph.D. from Northwestern University and has been a professor of psychology and psychiatry at the University of Toronto for three decades. Rebecca Shiner
