After reading Chapter 9, students should be able to:

1. Apply the theoretical model developed in Chapter 2 to Analyze the dynamics of discrimination against Arab Americans.

2. Distinguish between the different ethnic subpopulations subsumed under the labels “Arab,” “Middle Eastern,” and “Muslim.”

3. Discuss the history of Arab American immigration.

4. Analyze the various stereotypes and negative beliefs about Arabs.
