In addition to being able to recognize the key terms, artists, and artworks in the chapter, you should be able to:
  1. Understand the multiple nature of printmaking, and why artists often create editions of their prints.
  2. Analyze the differences between print media, including woodcuts, linocuts, engravings, drypoint, mezzotint, etching, aquatint, lithography, and screenprinting.
  3. Discuss how artists such Käthe Kollwitz have used prints to attempt to influence the direction of society and to express feelings about life.
  4. Explain what a monotype is, and how you can make one.
  5. Discuss how recent technological innovations have expanded the creative options of artists who create prints.
