Abortion is a topic of much debate in this country. Because it is so divisive an issue in the political arena, some women who have abortions feel inhibited from discussing their personal experiences. The following women talk about their experiences, having had an abortion, finding a support system and ways to communicate with their friends and family.

1			The women interviewed describe feeling isolated and unsure of themselves during the experience. What other kinds of emotions are typical after an abortion, in women and in men?
2			One woman is surprised to discover that some of her friends have also had abortions, but had not spoken about it in public. How might the perpetuation or breaking of the taboos around abortion affect the emotions of the women involved?
