Don R. Pember has a doctorate in mass communication law from the University of Wisconsin and is a Professor of Communications at the University of Washington. He is the recipient of the Distinguished Teaching Award and the Society of Professional Journalists’ Public Service Award.

Clay Calvert is the John and Ann Curley Professor of First Amendment Studies at the Pennsylvania State University where he also co-directs the Pennsylvania Center for the First Amendment. He holds a J.D. from the University of Pacific McGeorge School of Law and a Ph.D. in communication from Stanford University.
