CORPORATE CITIZENS (IE 3–1) AND ONLINE INTERNET EXERCISE 3–1

The objective of this exercise is to learn more about corporate citizenship. Ethical companies try to create win–win situations for all stakeholders. The Business Ethics Website rates corporations on corporate citizenship in five areas: environment, community relations, employee relations, diversity, and customer relations. Do the following:

  1. Select a large corporation that you believe will be ranked in the top 100 companies for corporate citizenship because they do a good job in the five areas of citizenship listed above. If you work/worked or would like to work for a large corporation, you can select it.

  2. Go to the Business Ethics website—http://www.business-ethics.com

  3. Click "100 Best Corporate Citizens" then click the link to the chart or scroll down to see the list of all 100 companies and how they rate in the five areas.

  4. Questions: (1) What corporation did you select and why? (2) Did the company make the top 100? If yes, what place did they get? (3) How can a company benefit by making the list and placing high on this and similar lists?
