Chapter 11 - Using Debate as a Persuasive Tool

In Chapter 11 we discuss the use of persuasive messages in public speaking. Debate can also be a very useful rhetorical tool. A useful activity to start persuading others of your stance is to organize a debate around your issue of interest. In order to do this, you'll need to narrow your issue down to a few debatable points, and find another person or organization to debate the other side of the issue. A healthy debate will often help strengthen your arguments. It will also showcase your knowledge and ideas, and persuade more individuals to join your cause. In addition to a debate, you can also host a public forum on your issue, to get a more inclusive conversation started. See the links below in getting started with hosting a debate or forum.
