Online Learning Center: The Online Learning Center provides students and instructors with a wealth of additional resources. For students, there is a wide range of tools that will help test their knowledge of the book, including: chapter summaries, interactive maps, multiple-choice quizzes, and essay questions.
Also accessible through the Online Learning Center is Primary Source Investigator (PSI) Online. This database, now online with free access to all students, offers hundreds of primary sources such as interactive maps, charts, photos, primary source docs, audio files, and video files with contextual information on each source, and thought-provoking questions that show students how historians look at sources. In addition, PSI has a program that walks students through how to write a paper using sources as evidence and is also easy to use in the classroom to support lecture and discussion.
The instructor side of the Online Learning Center links to a Teacher's Edition of PSI Online, which features a detailed Faculty Guide and resource bank. This guide provides easy reference to all learning assets, both in the text and on PSI, available to teachers and students. Each chapter is accompanied by a rich list of resources, including PowerPoint slides, image bank, outline maps, book maps, and test bank questions, all keyed to the chapter. In addition to assets, the Faculty Guide also includes a chapter overview, a list of themes, lecture strategies, discussion suggestions, suggestions for further reading, and chapter-specific film recommendations.
