Bruce L. Berg is professor of criminal justice at California State University, Long Beach where he has served as department chair, graduate adviser, and director of interdisciplinary
studies. Previously he was a professor of criminology at Indiana University of
Pennsylvania and a faculty member in the Department of Sociology at the University
of Massachusetts, Boston Harbor Campus. He also served as the internship director
and faculty member at Florida State University’s School of Criminology. Dr. Berg
received his PhD in sociology from Syracuse University. He has published more than
three dozen articles, essays, and book chapters in the areas of policing, deviance, elder
abuse, criminology, and research methods. He is the author of Qualitative Research
Methods for the Social Sciences, Law Enforcement: An Introduction to Policing in Society,
and coauthor of Research Methods for the Social Sciences: Applications and Practice.
Dr. Berg has been an active member of the American Society of Criminology and the
Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences since 1983. He has presented numerous papers
and workshops at meetings of these associations and served on several committees.
Dr. Berg has repeatedly traveled to China to observe police training there. |
