Change of Mode (or mutation)    Occurs when music moves between two parallel keys.
Closely Related Keys    Keys that have different tonal centers but that have no more than one accidental difference between their key signatures.
Common-Chord Modulations    Use one or more chords that are diatonic to both keys as a kind of hinge or pivot linking the two tonalities.
Distantly Related Keys    Pairs of keys that have foreign relationships.
Enharmonically Equivalent Keys    Keys which sound the same, but are spelled differently.
Foreign Relationships    All key relationships that are not enharmonic, parallel, relative, or closely related.
Mode Mixture    Same as change of mode.
Modulation    A shift of tonal center that takes place within an individual movement.
Parallel Keys    Major and minor keys that have the same tonic note.
Relative Keys    When two major and minor keys share the same key signatures.
Tonicization    Similar to modulation, but with the new key less strongly established.
