PROJECT TWO: The "Little Fugue" in G Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach

After listening to the "Little Fugue" in G Minor by Johan Sebastian Bach and reading "The Live Experience: Playing the Organ" (see Chapter 9), write a short reaction paper about the "Little Fugue" in G Minor. What did you like about this music? How did it make you feel? What held your focus and attention?

After writing your reaction paper, ask five friends or family members to listen to the "Little Fugue" in G Minor, and give you their reactions to this work. Compile their reactions into a short review and compare them with yours.

PROJECT THREE: The "Other Three Seasons"

Antonio Vivaldi wrote Le Quattro Stagione (The Four Seasons). Many people have heard Spring from The Four Seasons as background music for movies, weddings, and/or commercials. What about the "other three seasons"? Locate a recording of The Four Seasons and listen to Summer, Autumn, and Winter. You may find a recording in your local library, or you can ask your instructor where you may locate a recording of all Four Seasons.

Write a reaction paper to each of the other seasons:

Did Vivaldi capture the season in his music?

Does the music reflect the cold of winter, the winds of autumn or the heat of the summer?

How does Vivaldi project the seasons in his music?
