About the Authors

CYNTHIA HERBERT ADAMS
Cynthia Adams, a licensed psychologist, is a Professor and Associate Vice-Provost Emeritus of the University of Connecticut; she taught in the former School of Allied Health. Her primary research area was eating disorders and interdisciplinary health care. She has numerous publications in this area. Following her retirement from the University, she has become certified in treating co-occurring mental health and substance abuse issues. Currently she maintains a private practice and works part-time for Natchaug Hospital in Mansfield Center, CT. Her B.S. is from the University of New Hampshire, and she earned her master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Connecticut. The idea for this textbook was based upon her lecture notes for an interdisciplinary health course in which Peter Jones, MD was a frequent guest lecturer. She may be reached through www.psychologicaltreatment.net.
