Were the Bush tax cuts a good idea? During the first three years of the George W. Bush administration, a series of federal income cuts were enacted. Since then the impact of these tax cuts has been debated vigorously, often using concepts described in chapter 11. Sample the debate by visiting the web site for two main participants in the debate. For support of the Bush administration tax cuts go to the Heritage Foundation, a think tank whose mission is to "formulate and promote conservative public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense" at http://www.heritage.org/Research/Taxes/index.cfm For criticism of the Bush administration tax cuts go to the Citizens for Tax Justice, a think tank whose mission is to "give ordinary people a greater voice in the development of tax laws against the armies of special interest lobbyists for corporations and the wealthy" at http://www.ctj.org/ At each site, identify two strong arguments in favor (or against) the tax cuts.
