Purpose
This interactive allows you to explore the concepts of buoyancy or flotation.

Using the interactive

  • Configure the interactive using the INITIAL SETTINGS template on the upper right-hand side.
  • Control the running interactive using the CARGO template on the lower right-hand side.
  • The lower left shows a table of the numerical data which changes as cargo is added.

The Controls
  • Volume: Determines the total volume of the ship. The mass of the ship is always 5 grams.
  • Medium: Select which fluid medium into which the ship will be placed.
  • Start: This button places the ship into the medium.
  • Next Mass: This slider controls the mass of the next piece of cargo placed in the ship.
  • Add Cargo: This button places another cargo item into the ship.
