Directions: Use your knowledge of roots to determine the meaning of the italicized word in each sentence.

  • Ask yourself, "What clues do the parts of this word give me about the meaning of the word?" Then choose the correct meaning of the word as it is used in the context of the sentence.
  • Often, more than one definition will seem to make sense, but the root will give you a clue to the right answer. Good luck!
