Chapter Twelve examines how all of the different elements of theater discussed in Chapters 1 through 11 come together to create an actual production, Great Expectations, performed at the Mill Mountain Theatre in Virginia.

This chapter traces the production through set models, costume construction, rehearsals, and finally opening night.

After reading this chapter you should:

Understand how set models are used to provide a sense of the visual concept for the play.

Understand how important communication is for the successful collaboration of a production.

Have an understanding of the many elements that go into a successful production.

Understand the basic steps that are involved (from concept to design, then construction and rehearsal) and the basic order in which they must occur.
