Understand what it means that anthropology is the holistic and comparative study of humanity.

Be able to identify and distinguish between the four subfields of anthropology.

Understand the relationship between academic and applied anthropology.

Understand the various contexts in which applied anthropologists work.

Understand the relationship between urban and rural social systems.

Know what medical anthropology is. In particular, you should be able to distinguish between an illness and a disease, and how and why both vary between different societies and cultures. Also, you should understand the differences between Western and non-Western medicine.

Know what anthropology has to offer business.

Know how training in anthropology can serve as a good foundation for many different careers.
