What's New
An updated appendix on writing research reports. The sample article that illustrates APA style in Appendix A on research reports is now briefer and includes a table in addition to a figure. New material also addresses poster and paper presentations, guiding students to a better understanding of how to research, write, and present a report.
Learning objectives and new tables, figures, and activity questions for each chapter. These resources increase student involvement throughout the course and enhance learning. For example, Table 1.1 highlights characteristics of pseudoscience and Table 3.1 summarizes research risk categories outlined in the APA Ethics Code, figure 4.6 asks students to identify types of variables in a research study, and a new activity question in Chapter 12 assesses students’ understanding of the Pearson correlation coefficient.
Reorganization. Sections on measures of personality and on developmental research design have been moved to Chapters 5 ("Measurement Concepts") and 11 ("Quasi-Experimental and Single Case Experimental Designs"), respectively.
