What's the Problem? - Matching Exercise

Match the research scenarios with the appropriate research term.

1

Researchers wanted to know if people like a new cola drink better than the leading cola drink on the market. Using counterbalanced conditions, participants taste both colas and evaluate the taste. Only the researcher knows which condition the participants were in during the taste test.

2

A researcher examined the effect of time pressure on a puzzle task. Participants were randomly assigned to complete a relatively easy 20-piece puzzle during either a 5-minute or a 10-minute period.

3

Researchers conducted a study to see if glasses might influence perceptions of a person's intelligence. Participants were instructed to view a photograph of a person and then evaluate the person's capability. Thirty participants were randomly assigned to view the photograph. Computerized techniques allowed glasses to be added to the photograph for one of the two conditions.
