One of your good friends works at a day care center. He knows that you are taking a class in life-span development, and he has asked you to talk to the parents about the types of behaviors they might expect from their children as they develop. He has told you that the parents have many questions and concerns about Sigmund Freud's theories and his emphasis on sexuality, but they have heard good things about Jean Piaget's theories. Your friend has also recently learned about the Russian educator, Lev Vygotsky, and would like you to cover him also, along with any other theorists who you think are important. What would you say to the parents about these theorists? What can the parents expect from their children?

Your roommate's mother works at a Youth Center that offers after-school activities for school-aged children (kindergarten through 12th grade). She has noticed that whereas some older children have been teasing the younger children, other older children have been quite nurturing. She asks you to come to the Center to assess the situation, and then to design some type of intervention so that children of all ages would have mutually beneficial experiences. What research methods would you employ to accomplish these goals?
