Foreword

It is my pleasant privilege to write a foreword for this book Digital Signal Processing authored by Prof. S Salivahanan of Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi, and A Vallavaraj and C Gnanapriya who worked there earlier. The authors have used their wide experience in preparing the manuscript to enable the reader understand the concepts of digital signal processing in the simplest manner. There has been an increase in the demand for a suitable textbook on analog and digital signal processing technologies. The contents of the book are well organized and written in a simple language with numerous worked examples and exercise problems with answers. The level of presentation is suitable for self-study. MATLAB-based programs for solving digital signal processing problems is the need of the day and this book satisfies the requirement completely.

Myself being a teacher in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering for the past three decades, I believe that this book will serve as a useful text for the subjects Signals and Systems as well as Digital Signal Processing in the undergraduate courses and as a ready reference for the Advanced Signal Processing course at postgraduate level.

I strongly recommend this book to every Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science, Information Technology, Communication Systems and Instrumentation Engineering student and all Research Engineers. A few copies of this book in the libraries of all Science and Engineering Colleges and Polytechnics will be found quite useful.
